The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
Launched in April 2022, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme is designed to help UK homeowners in England and Wales make the switch to low-carbon heating. By cutting the costs of heat pump adoption, the government will remain on target to meet its commitments to the 2030 Paris Agreement and Net Zero 2050.
Meanwhile, you’ll get to dramatically reduce your carbon emissions by removing one of the biggest contributors to your carbon footprint – your boiler.
The UK government has set aside £450m to support the Boiler Upgrade Scheme for heat pump installation and there could be further financial rewards in future for choosing a low-carbon heating and hot water solution, like air source heat pump installation. The BUS is for homeowners in England and Wales, is managed by Ofgem and is designed to assist with the cost of replacing your boiler with an air-source heat pump.
